Oxygen Absorber

Oxygen absorbers are small sachets containing mainly iron powder. They are added to the package (or glued inside onto the film) and absorb the oxygen within the package. As a result, the shelf life of the packaged foods is extremely prolonged and the taste is preserved without the use of preservatives in the food itself. In Asia, especially in Japan, where there is a high demand for fresh food, these absorbers are widespread and indispensable for food packaging. In Europe, one just begins with the use of oxygen absorbers and uses them mainly in products such as cakes, doughs, bread (for example Dr. Schär), nuts or beef jerky.
